Urserental
A regional train of the Matterhorn-Gotthard Railway is on its way in the Urseren Valley between Realp and Hospental. The railway line runs along the Furkareuss river and leads through the Furka base tunnel at Realp into the canton of Valais. The Rossmettlengrat with the Spitzberg rises into the sky above the autumn-brown mountain ridge.
It was one of the last pictures I took for the Alpenbahnen book. I was out and about on the high plateau at the Oberalp Pass that morning and wanted to take a closer look at this part of the railroad line before continuing my journey to Valais. The light was a little too strong at first with shadows that were too deep and it was only towards the end of the afternoon that there was this mild light that was ideal for this photograph – I really like it.
